How is it already August?
I’ve gotten some feedback that my work to this point has been very contrived and almost completely based on my efforts to try to say something very specific and closed to my audience. They have encouraged me to open up a bit and lean into the intuitive side of photographing. I’ve spent several nights a week walking around my new neighborhood, wandering and photographing anything that grabs my attention. I’ve got a couple of ideas, but for the most part I’m just taking the time to study themes I may follow and trying to find a medium within photography that allows me to really push into the realm of the intuitive. I really need to spend more time out this next week or two. I’ve shot more in the last two weeks than probably at any point in my life and I’m really actually liking the kind of images that I make. I react to them as if they were new to me. It’s like I designed clothing, forgot about it and went back to buy it at a store. I’m really just trying to figure out the why.
I also wrote out an entire list of my big questions and big ideas and I’m adding to it every day. I’ve been keeping notecards and a sharpie with me and I’m writing down everything that catches my interest. I’m going to give it until the end of the month and then start to distill things down.
It’s 1am so this post was a wandering one. 😉
